I have been focusing on Twin Cam 500cc motors lately due to an impending parts shortage. The main guy that supplies engine parts for these in Germany is giving up the business and retiring soon. I have R5 R51 and R51/2 motors in for restoration now – Consider sending yours in before the hard to get parts dry up…
I am poised to make a big push on the 1951 R67 that I have been working on for a few months. Fresh packages of parts from Bing Agency, Benchmark Works, and Uli’s –
Just need to finish the wiring, install the drive shaft, exhaust, seat, headlight, tank, set up the rear suspension, handlebars and controls, cables – shouldn’t take too long – :^)
Here’s where I am now –
I’m now the proud owner of a 1963 R69S. It’s fairly low mileage, and in good shape overall. It’s been in the elements for a decade or two – but that don’t bother me none! I was in rural New York and is now on the left coast in my care. This year I will do a complete restoration on this example – and I’m leaning toward Dover White for a color scheme. More updates as I get work done –
Hi y’all –
Just a note to tell you about some upcoming events –
The Borrego Springs So Cal AMCA rally will be the first weekend in March this year – I’ll be riding my trusty 1950 R51/2 – and looking forward to a fun 3 days of riding.
The Big 3 Swap meet in Sad Diego can sometimes turn up old motorcycle stuff – so I’ll haunt that place on Feb 21, 22 & 23.
Just an update – Right now I have the following Customer’s bikes in process:
1951 R67 – Full Restoration
1951 R67 – Full Restoration (for Sidecar use)
1953 R51/3 – Restoration of Drive Train, Frame and Suspension – DONE
When these are done, I will start:
